The 2000 Hockenheim Finale Race 1, otherwise known as the ADAC-Preis Hockenheim 2000 Heat 1, was the fifteenth race of the 2000 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship, staged at the Hockenheimring in Hockenheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany on 29 October 2000.[1] The race would see Uwe Alzen sweep to victory for the second time in 2000, as D2 AMG-Mercedes inched closer to the Teams' Championship title.[2]
Background[]
Bernd Schneider was declared as the inaugural Champion of the revived DTM with two races to spare, having secured an unassailable tally of 206 points. He hence established a 44 point hold over Manuel Reuter in second, while Reuter himself had virtually guaranteed himself as the runner-up, having moved 40 clear of Klaus Ludwig. Ludwig would therefore have to win both races in Hockenheim to secure finish ahead of Reuter, although that would also require Reuter failing to score in either race.
D2 AMG-Mercedes would head to the season finale with the lead in the Teams' Championship, having scored 255 points across fourteen races. That hence headed to Hockenheim with a 25 point initiative, and could therefore take the title in the first race of the weekend if they outscored Warsteiner AMG-Mercedes by ten points. Opel Team Phoenix were also still mathematically in the hunt in third, while fourth placed Opel Team Holzer I had slipped too far back to challenge.

Milestones[]
- Uwe Alzen secured his second career victory.
- Third victory for Team Holzer as an entrant.
- Opel scored their seventh win as a manufacturer.
Standings[]
Bernd Schneider had arrived in Hockenheim as the Champion, although that did not stop the German ace extending his Championship lead to 59 points over Manuel Reuter. Reuter himself had secured the runner-up spot with a race to spare, while Klaus Ludwig found himself in a fight for third with teammate Marcel Fässler. Those two were split by six points midway through the final day, while Joachim Winkelhock was set to finish in fifth ahead of Uwe Alzen.
In the Teams' Championship D2 AMG-Mercedes were on the verge of taking the title, having moved onto 270 points for the campaign. That left them 32 ahead of sister squad Warsteiner AMG-Mercedes in second, who could only deny D2 AMG the title if they scored a one-two in the Finale, while D2 AMG failed to score. They would instead face a battle with Opel Team Phoenix for third, with the Opel backed squad just a point behind.
