The ADAC-Preis von Niedersachsen 2000 Heat 1, otherwise known as the 2000 Oschersleben II Race 1, was the eleventh race of the 2000 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship, staged at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in Oschersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany on 24 September 2000. The race would see Uwe Alzen sweep to his maiden DTM triumph, after an early red flag was thrown due to a heavy first corner collision.

Background

Bernd Schneider would head into the second phase of the season with a very healthy lead in the Championship, 42 points clear of his nearest challenger. Seasoned campaigner Klaus Ludwig was his closest competitor in second, with a nine point gap between Ludwig and third placed Manuel Reuter. Marcel Fässler was next up ahead of Joachim Winkelhock, while Éric Hélary had moved back into the top ten.

Warsteiner AMG-Mercedes led the charge in the Teams' Championship, leaving the Nürburgring with 187 points to their credit. Sister squad D2 AMG-Mercedes were next up in second, nine off the lead, while Opel Team Phoenix were in third on 139. Original Teile AMG-Mercedes were 36 further behind in fourth, while Opel Team Holzer I completed the top five.

Milestones

Standings

Bernd Schneider had once again managed to increase his Championship lead after the third race around Oschersleben, having opened out a 51 point advantage. Klaus Ludwig had retained his spot in second, although Manuel Reuter had closed the gap to three points between himself and the veteran racer. Marcel Fässler had retained fourth but had lost ground to those ahead, while Laurent Aïello, James Thompson and Christian Abt had all added their names to the scoresheet.

In the Teams' Championship it was whom still led the charge, although sister squad had moved to within two points of the leaders. Opel Team Phoenix had retained third and gained ground on the leaders, having moved onto 155 points, while Original Teile AMG-Mercedes had held fourth. Opel Team Holzer I had inched closer to the leaders in fifth, while both Abt Sportsline teams were on the board for the first time, meaning all eleven entrants had scored in 2000.
