The ADAC-Preis von Niedersachsen 2000 Heat 2, otherwise known as the 2000 Oschersleben II Race 2, was the twelfth round of the 2000 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship, staged at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in Oschersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany on 24 September 2000.[1] The race would see Bernd Schneider secure his sixth victory of the campaign, after defeating Uwe Alzen in a duel for the lead throughout the first half of the race.[2]
Background[]
Bernd Schneider had once again managed to increase his Championship lead after the third race around Oschersleben, having opened out a 51 point advantage. Klaus Ludwig had retained his spot in second, although Manuel Reuter had closed the gap to three points between himself and the veteran racer. Marcel Fässler had retained fourth but had lost ground to those ahead, while Laurent Aïello, James Thompson and Christian Abt had all added their names to the scoresheet.
In the Teams' Championship it was whom still led the charge, although sister squad had moved to within two points of the leaders. Opel Team Phoenix had retained third and gained ground on the leaders, having moved onto 155 points, while Original Teile AMG-Mercedes had held fourth. Opel Team Holzer I had inched closer to the leaders in fifth, while both Abt Sportsline teams were on the board for the first time, meaning all eleven entrants had scored in 2000.

Milestones[]
- Sixth victory for Bernd Schneider.
- HWA Team registered their eighth victory as an entrant.
- Eighth win for Mercedes as a manufacturer.
- Klaus Ludwig secured his sixth and final podium finish.
- This was also Ludwig's final points finish.
Standings[]
The results of the fourth Oschersleben race had proved significant in terms of the Championship, for it had left Bernd Schneider on the verge of the Championship crown. Indeed, the German racer would win the title at the following 2000 Nürburgring II Race 1 if he outscored Klaus Ludwig and Manuel Reuter by just a single point, while those two would need to win three races just to get back on terms with Schneider. Those three were also the only title pretenders left with four races to go, with fourth placed Marcel Fässler 98 points behind.
D2 AMG-Mercedes had moved back to the top of the Championship after Schneider's sixth win, claiming their 214th point of the campaign. They had moved nine ahead of sister squad Warsteiner AMG-Mercedes, while Opel Team Phoenix had retained third on 178. Original Teile AMG-Mercedes and Opel Team Holzer I completed the top five, with all eleven teams leaving Oschersleben with points on the board.
