The 2000 Oschersleben Race 1, formally known as the ADAC-Preis von Sachsen-Anhalt 2000 Race 1, was the third race of the 2000 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship, held at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben in Oschersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany on 18 June 2000.[1] The race would see Manuel Reuter secure a dominant maiden victory for Opel in the revived DTM.[2]
Background[]
Bernd Schneider left Hockenheim with a perfect tally of 40 points after his two victories, putting him ten ahead of Marcel Fässler. The Swiss racer himself had a ten point margin over Timo Scheider in third, while Peter Dumbreck had risen to fourth on sixteen points. Michael Bartels and Manuel Reuter were next up with fifteen and twelve points respectively, with thirteen drivers on the scoresheet.
D2 AMG-Mercedes led the charge in the Teams' Championship after the opening day, leaving Hockenheim on 40 points. Warsteiner AMG-Mercedes were next up on 34 points, while Opel's challenge was led by Opel Team Phoenix. Next up was Opel Team Holzer II in fourth ahead of Original Teile AMG-Mercedes, with eight teams out of eleven having scored.

Standings[]
Bernd Schneider would retain the lead in the Championship after the third round of the campaign, and had established a fair twenty point lead at the head of the hunt. Manuel Reuter, the only other winner of the campaign, would head into the second race of the weekend on 32 points in second, while Marcel Fässler had dropped to third, level with Reuter in terms of points. Timo Scheider was next up ahead of Joachim Winkelhock, while Pedro Lamy had become the season's fourteenth scorer.
In the Teams' Championship it was D2 AMG Mercedes who continued to head the field, entering the second Oschersleben race with 62 points. Opel Team Phoenix were next up in second after their maiden victory, fifteen behind, while their sister squad Opel Team Holzer II were a further five back. Warsteiner AMG Mercedes were next up ahead of Original Teile AMG-Mercedes, with eight teams having scored in the opening three rounds.
