Christopher Haase (born 26 September 1987 in Kulmbach, Bavaria, Germany) is a German racing driver, who competed in the 2021 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship with Team Rosberg.[1] A multiple winner at GT3 level and former ADAC GT Masters Champion, Haase was handed his DTM debut in place of Dev Gore after the American racer was forced to miss a round of the 2021 season.[1]
Background[]
Haase began his career in karting in his native Germany, before moving into racing cars in 2006, joining the ADAC Dacia Logan Cup.[2] 2007 saw Haase move into the realm of GT3 racing with a full season campaign in the inaugural ADAC GT Masters, with the young German ace going on to claim the inaugural title.[2] The 2008 season saw Haase narrowly miss out on retaining his GT Masters crown, finishing second, while also running to victory in the GT4 European Cup.[2]
Audi Ace: 2009 - 2020[]
2009 saw Haase join the Audi stable of GT3 drivers as one of their emerging talents, with the German youth going on to claim the FIA GT3 European Championship title with Phoenix Racing.[2] A winless 2010 season, barring a win in the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race, would follow for Haase, before Haase secured the runner-up spot in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2011, his debut at the event.[2] The following year saw Haase go on to win the 24H Nürburgring for the first time with Audi, while also taking the title in the Blancpain Endurance Series.[2]
The 2013 season proved to be a barren one for Haase, although he would bounce back in 2014 with his second win at the 24H Nürburgring, while also finishing as runner-up in the GT Daytona class of the United SportsCar Championship.[2] Third in the USCC in GTD would follow for Haase in 2015, while 2016 saw Haase claim a class victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring in the GT3 class.[2] For 2017 Haase moved into the Intercontinental GT Challenge, finishing second, a feat he would repeat in 2018.[2]
2019 saw Haase return to the GT Masters for the first time in five seasons, with the German racer finishing in nineteenth with a single podium finish.[2] The condensed 2020 season saw Haase secure second in the 24H Nürburgring, while also claiming one win in the GT Masters.[2]
DTM History[]
Haase was handed his DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship debut midway through the 2021 season, after Dev Gore was forced to miss the Nürburgring round due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.[1] Signed up by Team Rosberg on the eve of the meeting, Haase would retire from his debut race due to damage.[3] A more successful second race for Haase saw the German racer secure tenth position and his first point, as well as set the fastest lap of the race.[4]
