Esteban Muth (born 30 October 2001 in Uccle, Brussels, Belgium) is a Belgian racing driver, who competes in the 2021 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship for T3 Motorsport.[1] A race winner at F4 level, Muth was signed as the first driver for the German squad, and would become the first driver to pilot a Lamborghini in the DTM.[1]
Background[]
Muth's career began in karting, with the Belgian youth racing from 2010 until 2018 in various national and later European and World Championships.[2] In 2018 Muth secured his first seat in a single seater, signing up to the French F4 Championship, going on to secure two wins and seventh in the Championship.[2] The following season saw Muth open his season with a run to fifth in the Toyota Racing Series, before one-off appearances in the Formula Renault Eurocup, Japanese F3 Championship and Blancpain GT Series.[2]
A disrupted 2020 season saw Muth make four appearances in the GT4 European Series, claiming two podium finishes after lacking the budget to secure a full season seat in any series.[2]
DTM History[]
Muth was signed by T3 Motorsport ahead of the 2021 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship, after the German squad announced that they would enter a single car in the series after the switch to GT3 regulations.[1] After a mid-table run in pre-season testing at the wheel of the #10 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo, Muth would gain a teammate in the form of Esmee Hawkey on the eve of the season as T3 expanded to two cars.[1] At the season opening round in Monza Muth would narrowly miss out on a debut points finish, finishing eleventh, before improving to ninth in Race 2.[3]
