Marvin Dienst (born 24 February 1997 in Worms, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany) is a German racing driver, who competed in the 2021 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship, racing for Mücke Motorsport.[1] A former ADAC Formel 4 Champion, Dienst was handed his DTM debut towards the end of the 2021 campaign, standing in for Maximilian Buhk.[1]
Background[]
Dienst began racing in go-karts in 2007 at the age of ten, competing in national competitions through to the end of 2011.[2] In 2012 Dienst moved into racing single seaters, entering the Formula BMW Talent Cup and duly winning the competition in his rookie season.[2] That earned Dienst a seat in the ADAC Formel Masters in 2013, with the German youth claiming one win in his maiden campaign to finish fifth in the standings.[2]
GT Calling: 2014 - 2021[]
Dienst completed a second campaign of Formel Masters in 2014, improving to fourth with three victories with Mücke Motorsport, before securing a fourth campaign with a move to HTP Motorsport.[2] That third campaign saw Dienst claim the 2015 Championship with eight victories, while also making three appearances in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.[2] However, after failing to secure a seat in F3 for 2016, Dienst switched his attentions to GT racing for 2016, signing up to the ADAC GT Masters.[2]
For 2017 Dienst would secure a seat in the FIA World Endurance Championship, joining the Dempsey-Proton team in LMGTE-Am, and would ultimately finish as runner-up in class.[2] Fourth in GTE would follow the following season, before Dienst moved back to the GT Masters in 2019, finishing twentieth come the end of the season.[2] 2020 saw Dienst compete in the GT Masters for a second season, claiming one win, while also securing second in class in the 24 hours of Nürburgring.[2]
For 2021 Dienst secured a seat in the GT World Challenge Europe, completing a partial campaign with Toksport WRT, while also making two appearances in the ADAC GT4 Germany.[2]
DTM History[]
Dienst was given the chance to make his debut in the DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship by Mücke Motorsport towards the end of the 2021 season, after Maximilian Buhk revealed he would miss the penultimate round.[1] The German racer duly agreed to replace his compatriot for the trip to the Hockenheimring in early October, and would make his debut in the first race at the Grand Prix circuit.[1]
