Maximilian Paul (born 14 February 2000 in Germany) is a German racing driver, who competed in the 2021 DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship with T3 Motorsport.[1] A regular runner for T3 in the ADAC GT Masters, Paul would race a third Lamborghini as a guest driver for the German squad having been initially tipped to drive one of their two full season entries.[2]
Background[]
Paul's career would begin at the age of ten, when the German youth entered his first kart races in his native Germany.[2] In 2018 Paul moved into racing cars, joining the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, finishing eleventh after four appearances.[2] The following season saw Paul secure four wins in four races in the LMS Cup, while also starting his relationship with T3 Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters.[2]
T3 Trainee: 2019 - 2021[]
Paul's debut season in ADAC GT Masters would see the German youth finish 34th overall, having only claimed a handful of points across the season.[2] A stronger second season in ADAC GT Masters followed for Paul in 2020, although the German youth would again languish in 30th in the Championship.[2] T3 retained Paul for a third ADAC GT Masters campaign in 2021 as they changed to racing Lamborghinis with pseudo-factory support from the Italian manufacturer.[2]
DTM History[]
Paul would test for T3 Motorsport ahead of their debut in the DMSB Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters Championship in 2021, although the German youth was overlooked for a race seat, instead focusing on their ADAC GT Masters programme.[1] Instead, the German racer would have to wait until the fifth round of the season at Spielberg to make his debut, as T3 opted to field a third Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo for the trip to Austria.[1] The German youth would go on to run in the midfield in both races, with Paul spending most of the two races fighting with teammate Esteban Muth.[3]
